The Château des Varennes is located 25 minutes from Toulouse, in the heart of a wooded property of 40 hectares, with a breathtaking view of the slopes of Lauragais and the Pyrenees.
In 1582, year of construction of the castle, the Lauragais is called Pays de Cocagne because of the richness brought by the pastel, a medicinal plant and dyer. The castle Varennes is one of the famous pastel castles in Lauragais.
In the eighteenth century the castle became one of the castles of wheat. It is then modified by the construction of a horseshoe court; in this courtyard, a hundred iron rings are used to tie horses at fairs. South side, the castle of Varennes opens on a park of three hectares with a beautiful view on the slopes of Lauragais and in the distance the chain of the Pyrenees.
The castle Varennes remained in the family of St. Felix until the eighteenth century, and still in the same family by female descent to today, where 23 generations of the same family have succeeded.
